Description

A tribute to a true Australian hero
Fighting alongside US soldiers on Mt Tambu, New Guinea, Leslie "Bull" Allen MM braved heavy gunfire to carry 12 injured American servicemen to safety. This exquisite figurine captures one of the rescues that earned the boy from Ballarat a US Silver Star. Crafted from cold cast bronze, impeccably detailed and an impressive 28 cm tall, it stands on a polished timber base. Limited to just 1,000 pieces, each with a numbered certificate of authenticity, it is a remarkable testament to the power of courage and mateship.
In July 1943, Leslie Charles Allen, Australian soldier single-handedly carried 12 American casualties to safety whilst under heavy fire at Mt. Tambu in spite of being injured. He acquired his nickname ‘Bull’ for charging through the opposition while playing Australian Rules football with the battalion.
